5 hurt following 2-vehicle crash in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX – According to Click 2 Houston, four children and one adult were hurt following a wreck on Yale Street near West Tidwell Road on Tuesday.

A person was driving a Ford Expedition at 100 mph in a 35 mph zone when he slammed into a Chevrolet Avalanche making a right-hand turn from the inside lane.

The collision sent the Expedition flying before landing in a drainage ditch. A man, a woman, and four children were inside the Expedition at the time of the crash.  The man was the father of the four children.

Following the wreck, the man exited the Expedition and fled the scene on foot. Another driver picked him up and drove away.

First responders transported the woman and four children to area hospitals. One of the children, an 8-year-old girl, was in critical condition.

The man and woman inside the Avalanche remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Authorities are trying to locate the man who fled the scene.
