8, including six inmates, injured in SUV-van crash in Goodrich

GOODRICH, TX – Eight people, including six inmates, were injured in an SUV-van crash in Goodrich on Friday, according to Fox26Houston.

The crash happened after 1 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 59 and FM 1988. Texas Department of Public Safety said a driver of a Texas Department of Criminal Justice van drove east on FM 1988, stopped at the stop sign, before pulling into the path of an SUV and colliding with it.

The SUV driver, an 84-year-old adult, the SUV passenger — a 75-year-old adult — and the six inmates inside the van sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The van driver and two guards on board were uninjured, DPS confirms.

DPS has not confirmed which driver was at fault and has not reported any citations at this time.
