Driver dies after collision on Aldine Bender Rd in north Houston
HOUSTON, TX — One person was fatally injured Wednesday morning due to a two-vehicle crash in north Houston’s Aldine Meadows neighborhood, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the accident happened in the 900 block of Aldine Bender Road at 8:57 a.m.
A preliminary investigation shows the victim was driving a white 2005 Honda Accord southbound in the 14900 block of Yarberry Street when they reached the intersection with Aldine Bender Road. Though the victim stopped the Honda near the stop sign, the victim failed to yield to the right of way of a silver 2001 Lexus IS 300 heading eastbound in the middle lane of Aldine Bender Road. As a result, the front of the Lexus collided with the Honda, causing the Honda to spin counterclockwise and hit the left-back quarter of the Lexus with its right-back quarter.
The driver of the Honda, who suffered grave injuries, was rushed by ambulance to HCA Houston Healthcare – Northwest. On the following day, May 25, 2023, the patient was pronounced deceased at 7:20 p.m.
An investigation by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division remains ongoing.
