Woman dies after fiery crash on Shaver St in SE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A woman died Sunday night after her car crashed into a utility pole and caught fire in southeast Houston’s Edgewood area, reports ABC13.
The accident occurred in the 5000 block of Shaver Street, near the intersection with Galveston Road, at about 9:30 p.m.
Details remain limited, but preliminary details indicate the woman was partially ejected after her vehicle collided with the pole. Witnesses were able to pull the female driver and sole occupant from the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames.
Responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department administered life-saving measures, but the victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.
Houston Police said a second car was struck by a tire that had come off the woman’s vehicle during the crash. Though the impact caused airbags in the second car to deploy, its driver was not reported hurt.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal collision.
