Woman dies months after hit-and-run pedestrian crash in SE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 65-year-old woman has died five months after she was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene in southeast Houston, reports the Houston Police Department.

The hit-and-run pedestrian crash occurred in the 2400 block of Rodney Street, in the city’s Edgebrook neighborhood, on Saturday, January 14, at about 12:05 a.m.

According to the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, the woman was on foot and in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a gray Chrysler 300. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid to the female pedestrian.

Paramedics rushed the woman to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, where she was listed in critical condition. A press release shared by the HPD on July 6, 2023, indicates the victim was pronounced deceased by doctors on June 22, 2023, more than five months later.

As of this writing, authorities have not yet located the hit-and-run driver.
