Motorcyclist dies after crash on Eastex Fwy offramp in NE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 28-year-old man died Monday night following a motorcycle accident on an Eastex Freeway exit ramp in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The collision took place on the Exit 134 ramp connecting the Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) with the Interstate 610 North Loop West. It was first reported at around 9:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation by the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division shows the man was operating a red Suzuki SV6 motorcycle northbound when he took the exit ramp. Authorities said the rider failed to maintain a single lane while negotiating the curve of the ramp. Moments later, he lost control of the motorcycle, which collided with a concrete wall. The rider was then ejected from the ramp and onto a grassy field below.
Paramedics rushed the victim to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
No other vehicles appear to have been involved, and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
