Cyclist killed by hit-and-run driver on S Mason Rd in Katy
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A man died late Monday after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in east Katy, according to Click2Houston.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal incident occurred in the 900 block of South Mason Road at about 11:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows the man was riding a bike southbound on the road when he was hit by an unknown vehicle, which then fled the scene without stopping. Authorities do not believe its driver called 911.
The victim, who was thrown from the bike during the crash and landed in a grassy area, was found with “no signs of life” at the scene and pronounced deceased.
The HCSO continues to investigate and search for the fleeing driver. Anyone with information is urged to reach out to investigators.
