Multiple vehicles crushed after big rig overturns on SH-225 in SE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A rollover crash involving a tractor-trailer Thursday crushed several vehicles below the State Highway 225 overpass in southeast Houston, according to Click2Houston.

The incident first unfolded on a stretch of SH-225 (La Porte Freeway) that runs over the Interstate Highway 610 (South Loop).

Details remain limited, but officials said a heavy truck overturned on the overpass, and an unspecified number of vehicles were found crushed on IH-610 below. It was not immediately clear whether the 18-wheeler had been carrying the vehicles when it rolled and caused the vehicles to fall, or if personal vehicles below had been crushed by falling debris.

No information regarding potential injuries has been made available at this time.

All main lanes of the South Loop were closed in the area as crews worked to clear the vehicles and debris.
