Driver dies after collision on Westheimer Pkwy near West Oaks Mall
HOUSTON, TX — A 32-year-old woman died Tuesday evening following a two-vehicle wreck near West Oaks Mall in west Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal accident happened at 15200 Westheimer Parkway at around 5:30 p.m.
An early investigation shows that the woman was operating a blue Nissan Sentra eastbound when, for reasons still unclear, the Nissan veered out of its lane and traveled over the median. Moments after entering the parkway’s westbound lanes, the Nissan’s passenger side was struck by an oncoming silver Ford Fiesta whose driver was unable to avoid the crash.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced the driver of the Nissan deceased at the scene. Her identity remains undisclosed at this time.
The driver of the Ford, a 55-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for injuries considered non-life-threatening.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
