Authorities charge woman for fatal crash on E I-610 S
HOUSTON, TX – Authorities have charged a woman for a deadly auto vs. pedestrian crash that happened at 600 E I-610 S on Wednesday, according to the Houston Police Department.
Alma Alicia Zavala, 32, was driving a silver Mazda CX5 when she strayed onto the shoulder of the interstate and collided with a male pedestrian around 6:20 p.m.
Following the collision, Zavala fled the scene. Witnesses stopped Zavala near the crash site.
Officers responded to the scene and detained the driver. They determined she was not impaired.
Rescue crews transported the victim to Ben Taub Genearl Hospital, where he died.
Authorities cahrged with failure to stop and render aid.
Officials have not released the victim’s name.
