Suspected impaired driver collides with patrol vehicle in northeast Houston

HOUSTON, TX – An alleged impaired driver struck a Houston Police Department patrol car at North Wayside Drive and Joy Street Sunday afternoon, according to Click 2 Houston.

A pickup truck driver was at a stop sign at the intersection of North Wayside Drive and Joy Street when they pulled out in front of a patrol car and collided with it around 12:30 p.m.

First responders transported the two officers and the pickup truck driver to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities found empty beer cans at the crash site following the collision. They are looking into whether impairment played a role in the accident.
