Pedestrian dies after jumping from truck bed into traffic on North Loop East Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian died after he jumped from the bed of a moving pickup truck onto the 7300 block of North Loop East Freeway on Tuesday, according to the Houston Police Department.

A 26-year-old man was running on the freeway and jumped into the bed of a brown Ford F350 when traffic came to a stop. He then jumped out of the truck when it started moving and injured himself around 1:30 p.m.

First responders transported the man to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m.

Following the incident, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Officials have not released the victim’s name.
