Homeless pedestrian struck, killed at Greenspoint Dr, TX-8

HOUSTON, TX – A 53-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries Monday in an auto-pedestrian crash in north-central Houston, reports abc 13 News.

Emergency crews responded to the accident shortly after 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Greenspoint Drive and the frontage road to the Sam Houston Parkway, or TX-8. This is near Lonestar College—Houston North Greenspoint.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a homeless pedestrian was travelling in the crosswalk in her wheelchair when a white Cadillac hit her.

The victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity to the public. They say that the victim has been struck before in the same area.

The driver of the Cadillac initially left the scene of the accident but ultimately returned after parking nearby.

While the driver claims to have had right of way, the crash remains under investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected at this time.
