Pickup rear-ends mail truck on Antoine Dr, killing postal worker

HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police have charged a man in connection to a crash that killed a postal worker on Saturday in northwest Houston, reports Fox 26 Houston.

Sometime in the morning, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle accident on Antoine Drive between Whitchurch Drive and Claverton Drive.

The investigation thus far indicates that 48-year-old Jose Humberto Romero was fleeing southbound on Antoine Drive from an earlier crash near Veterans Memorial. Romero was speeding when he lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into the rear of a postal vehicle.

The driver of the postal vehicle, identified as 58-year-old Steven Marks, died after transport to a local hospital.

Following a field sobriety test, authorities charges Romero with intoxication manslaughter.

The investigation is ongoing.
