Pedestrian killed in Saturday morning crash on U.S. 59 in Splendora

SPLENDORA, TX – A pedestrian died in a crash in the early hours of Saturday morning on U.S. Highway 59 in Splendora, reports KTRK.

Splendora police say officers responded around 1 a.m. to a crash at the intersection of Brice Lane and U.S. Highway 59. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

Investigators say the man lay in the roadway before the vehicle struck him. Police also report that the area had no street lighting at the time of the crash.

Authorities pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Officials took the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for an autopsy and have not yet released his identity.

Splendora police say they found no signs of impairment or excessive speed by the driver. The Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the fatal crash.
