Construction flagger killed in Montgomery County work zone crash

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Francisco Malacara died on the job after a driver hit him on Tuesday in a work zone off FM 1484 in Montgomery County, reports FOX 26 Houston.

Malacara was 61 years old. Authorities say the father and grandfather was working as a traffic flagger at the site when the crash happened. The tragic incident occurred during Work Zone Awareness Month.

Officials report that the motorist stayed on location after the collision. Police also said the driver is not presently facing charges. Texas DPS is conducting an inquiry into the deadly event.
