Three injured in chain-reaction crash on Southwest Freeway in Harris County
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Three people were hurt in a multi-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning on Southwest Freeway, per the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Reports indicate that the crash happened around 12:15 a.m. on May 6 near the 16400 block of Southwest Freeway.
Prior to the collision, officials say that Kenton Jackson was driving a white 2021 Hyundai Sonata westbound in the third lane of Southwest Freeway. At the same time, Rafael Teran was driving a 2017 Honda Civic nearby.
Investigators say Teran failed to reduce his speed in time, and his vehicle struck the left rear area of Jackson’s vehicle. The impact left both vehicles immobilized, with Teran’s Honda stopped in an active travel lane.
Soon after the initial collision, Alyssa Anderson and two passengers approached the area in a silver 2019 Nissan Sentra. Anderson’s Nissan struck the back of Teran’s disabled Honda. The second impact caused injuries to Anderson and both passengers.
CyFair Medic 10 took Anderson and passenger I-Nesha Derouen to HCA Houston Northwest. Passenger Aermani Brown was transported to Memorial Hermann Downtown by Life Flight.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate the crash. Officials have not announced any charges.
