11-year-old killed in bicycle crash near Clute school

CLUTE, TX – An 11-year-old girl died on Thursday morning in a bicycle crash near Clute Intermediate School, reports KHOU.

The collision happened around 7:20 a.m. near the school entrance. Police say the child was a student at the school.

According to reports, the crash happened as a GMC Sierra was exiting the campus parking area. The pickup struck the girl as she was riding her bike.

The driver reportedly remained on location after the impact. Police say the driver also attempted to help the child. Officials declared the girl dead at the scene.

Several local agencies assisted with the response and investigation. Officials have not announced any charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
