One dead, three hospitalized after fiery rollover wreck in Pearland

PEARLAND, TX – One person died, and three others suffered injuries in a rollover wreck on Thursday along SH 288 in Pearland, reports Click2Houston.

Reports indicate that the crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. near Hughes Ranch Road. Pearland police say the vehicle rolled over in a southbound lane in the 15500 block of the toll ramp.

When officers reached the scene, they found the vehicle burning with four people trapped inside. Police say three of the people did not appear alert at the time.

Pearland firefighters later arrived and removed three people from the vehicle. Medics transported those three victims to nearby hospitals.

One person died at the scene of the crash, according to investigators.

The wreck also damaged a guardrail. Police diverted southbound toll traffic while crews assessed the roadway. The toll lanes from the Hughes Ranch and Discovery Bay ramps were closed during the subsequent investigation.

Authorities have not yet clarified what may have caused the crash.
