TxDOT shuts down portion of I-10 due to truck collision, bridge strike in Houston 

HOUSTON, TX – Texas Department of Transportation workers had to close several eastbound lanes on I-10 East due to a truck collision and a bridge strike on Friday, KHOU reports.

The incident happened before 5:30 p.m. along Houston Avenue. Authorities blocked the center lane, right lane, and right shoulder to accommodate the on-scene clean-up process.

At the time of the reporting, drivers were told to expect delays as crews worked to restore safe road conditions.

Despite the nature of the accident, no injuries were reported.

Bridge strikes, especially those involving trucks, appear to be all too common, officials noted. Last year alone, 15 18-wheelers crashed into the bridge.
