Woman fatally struck by vehicle on Hwy. 249 in Houston
HOUSTON, TX – A woman lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 249 on Thursday, according to Click2Houston.
The incident occurred after 10:30 p.m. along Old Bammel North Houston Road. Harris County deputies determined that the woman was trying to run across the eastbound lanes when a Cadillac struck her.
Deputies confirmed the woman did not use a marked crosswalk and was initially left in critical condition.
EMS crews transported the woman, where she later died.
Deputies confirmed the Cadillac driver initially left the scene of the crash, but later returned. Deputies confirmed they had a green light and did not show signs of impairment.
That driver was released and not expected to face charges.
Officials have not released the woman’s name at this time.
