3 hospitalized after vehicle falls onto SW Freeway in Houston
HOUSTON, TX – Three people were transported to local hospitals after a vehicle fell from the Belt 8 Freeway onto the Southwest Freeway on Wednesday evening.
Houston METRO Police told Fox26 Houston that they suspect a driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, which led them to lose control of their vehicle and crash into an HOV barrier.
The driver’s vehicle became airborne and fell from the Belt 8 Freeway and landed on the Southwest Freeway.
The car became totaled as a result of the crash, and the three people inside sustained unspecified injuries. Their current physical conditions have not been disclosed.
Authorities shut down the northbound lanes of Southwest Freeway between Beltway 8 and West Bellfort for the on-scene clean-up process and investigation.
Traffic delays could be seen amid the closures, and drivers were urged to find alternative routes.
No citations or arrests have been reported after the collision.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
