1 life claimed, 2 sent to ER after two-vehicle crash in SE Houston

SOUTHEAST HOUSTON, TX – One person’s life was claimed, and two others were sent to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Southeast Houston on Sunday.

Police told ABC13 that the crash happened around 9 p.m. on East Orem Drive near Martindale Drive. Preliminary details show that a driver of a Jeep SUV was traveling west on East Orem Drive at a high rate of speed and crashed into a Honda Accord coming out of a residential neighborhood.

One Honda occupant — a woman — succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while two others were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the Jeep passenger and driver were uninjured. At this time, police suspect the Jeep motorist may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

If the Jeep driver was truly impaired, then they could face a reckless manslaughter charge.

The victim’s name has not been released.
