Alleged drunk driver fatally collides with another vehicle in northeast Harris County
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – According to ABC 13, a 7-year-old girl is dead after an alleged impaired driver collided with the vehicle she was in near Bammel North Houston Rd and North Sam Houston Pkwy W on Sunday.
Joel Gonzalez Chacin, 41, hit a car with the 7-year-old girl in the backseat around 2:45 a.m. The girl’s mother, Christina Smith, was driving.
Chacin appeared in court Tuesday morning. He received a bond. As part of the bond, he must undergo alcohol testing and is not allowed to drive.
Christina Smith remains in the hospital. She needed surgery and will face a long recovery time.
