Alleged impaired driver fatally collides with man on Almeda Genoa Rd
HOUSTON, TX – A suspected impaired driver struck and killed a male pedestrian at 1100 Almeda Genoa Road on Sunday, according to the Houston Police Department.
Victor Hugo De La Paz Rivas, 32, was allegedly driving a gray Toyota Tacoma pickup truck west on Almeda Genoa Rd at excessive speeds when he hit the victim around 9:55 p.m.
Rescue crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
De La Paz Rivas’ two male passengers, ages 4 and 7, were not hurt in the collision.
Authorities determined De La Paz Rivas was impaired and arrested him. They charged him with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.
Officials have not identified the victim.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
