Auto-pedestrian crash on South Loop East proves fatal

HOUSTON, TX – Two vehicles struck and fatally injured a man Monday night along a major roadway on the south side of Houston, reports My Texas Daily.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on South Loop East between Long Drive and Wayside Drive, which is just northwest of the Barnett Sports Complex.

Police say that a 54-year-old male driver lost control of his Infiniti QX60 and struck a concrete divider along the roadway. While standing near his vehicle, the man was struck by both a Jeep Renegade and a GMC Sierra pickup.

The pedestrian died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his name to the public.

Both drivers involved in the crash stopped to render aid and to speak with authorities.

No charges are pending at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
