Boy, 16, critically injured in crash involving vehicle in Spring
SPRING, TX – A 16-year-old boy was left in critical condition as a result of a crash involving a vehicle in Spring on Friday.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told Click2Houston that the incident happened on Interstate 45.
According to more information from Fox26Houston, the driver told the sergeant he saw the two boys running across the highway and reduced his speed to avoid a crash.
The two boys, aged 16 and Spring High School students, made it to the other side of the highway, but one of them was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross the HOV lane.
The driver who struck the teenager remained at the scene until EMS crews and law enforcement arrived.
The ambulance transported the teenager struck by a vehicle to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
The other involved teenager appears to be uninjured.
Officials said no criminal charges have been filed against the driver.
