Cement truck crashes through collapsed bridge in north Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — A bridge collapsed Thursday morning near Lake Conroe in Willis, causing a cement truck to crash through the structure, according to KHOU11.

The exact location of the wreck has not been confirmed, but North Montgomery County Fire Department crews were dispatched to the scene in the Walnut Cove subdivision just after 8:00 a.m.

Authorities said the bridge, which was built in the 1980s, runs over creek that feeds Lake Conroe and is surrounded by road signs that specify a four-ton weight limit.

Preliminary details suggest the cement truck was on or near the bridge when the structure collapsed, causing the truck to fall through.

While the driver was not reported hurt, authorities said a connecting sewage line is now at risk of breaking.
