Child dies after police pursuit ends with chase in Briar Forest
HOUSTON, TX – According to ABC 13, a boy died when a police chase ended in a crash on Westheimer Road near the Beltway in Briar Forest on Thursday.
Officers spotted a stolen car in west Houston around 10 p.m. Officers saw the suspects, ages 12 and 13, collide with another car and continue driving on Richmond Ave.
Officers followed the suspects as they crashed into another vehicle on Kirkwood Rd. Authorities attempted to pull the car over, but the suspects refused.
The suspects then lost control of their vehicle when they swerved to avoid colliding with a METRO bus and slammed into three cars on Westheimer Rd.
Four boys fled the area on foot and left one boy in the car.
Rescue crews transported the boy who was left in the car to an area hospital, where he died.
Authorities apprehended two of the boys who ran off. They transported them to the hospital with minor injuries. The remaining two boys got away.
