HOUSTON, TX- A driver slammed into the passenger side of an HPD car, which then hit a minivan on the Old Spanish Trail, and resulted in one hospitalization on Jan. 1st, KTRK reports.

The three car crash began when the Lexus hit the police vehicle on Old Spanish Trail near Allegheny Street while the officer was on-duty. The officer was driving towards a non-emergency work call. This occurred around 11p.m.

The minivan that the police vehicle was driven into contained four women. It was at a stop sign when it was hit by the HPD car.

Authorities believe speed may be a factor in the cause of the incident.

The case is still open regarding the cause of the crash.
