Deputies investigate deadly crash on Hartwick Rd
HOUSTON, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal collision that happened on the 5000 block of Hartwick Rd on Friday.
Joe Jackson was driving a silver 2014 Mazda CX-5 west on Hartwick Rd at high speeds when, around 12:56 a.m., he failed to pass to the left safely and sideswiped a 2017 Ford F550 bucket lift truck operated by Steven Alf. Alf was working on cable lines, and his flashing amber and white lights were activated.
The collision spun the Mazda clockwise, and it slammed into a brick mailbox. The collision then spun the Mazada counterclockwise, and it hit a fence, natural gas line, and utility pole.
Rescue crews pronounced Jackson dead at the scene. Alf was not hurt in the collision.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
