Deputies investigate deadly DUI crash on Smith Rd in Houston
HOUSTON, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal DUI crash that happened on the 14300 block of Smith Rd on Sunday.
Jason Aycock was driving a 2013 Nissan Versa south on Smith Rd when he strayed off the road into a ditch and crashed into a concrete driveway before slamming into a tree around 8:37 a.m. Neither Aycock nor his passenger, Diana Grace Gonzalez, wore a seatbelt.
Rescue crews pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene and transported Aycock to an area hospital in critical but stable condition.
Aycock cooperated with authorities, who determined he may have been impaired. Deputies are investigating that possibility.
