Deputy involved in fatal pedestrian collision in Katy

KATY, TX – A deputy was involved in a fatal pedestrian collision in Katy early Thursday morning, according to KHOU.

A driver was heading south on Fry Road near Morton Road when they hit a woman just after midnight. The woman rolled over the top of the vehicle and was then hit by a deputy when she landed on the road.

First responders transported the woman to an area hospital, where she died.

Following the collision, the driver and deputy remained at the scene. Authorities determined the driver was not impaired.

Authorities believe the crash was caused by the woman’s failure to yield the right-of-way to the vehicles.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal pedestrian collision.
