Driver dies after car hits hydrant off East Fwy in Northshore area
HOUSTON, TX — A 58-year-old woman died last Monday, July 31, after a single-vehicle accident off the East Freeway service road in east Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal wreck occurred in the 12400 block of the freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) service road at around 6:05 p.m.
Preliminary details show that the victim was operating a gray Honda CRV westbound on the service road when she appeared to suffer a medical episode. Moments later, the vehicle ran off the roadway and hit a fire hydrant.
Responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department rushed the victim to Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
