Driver dies after colliding with semi-truck on East Freeway near Greater Fifth Ward

HOUSTON, TX – A driver fatally collided with a semi-truck on the 4200 block of Interstate 10 Thursday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

A 65-year-old man was driving a gray Chevrolet Silverado east on the East Freeway in a construction zone when he rear-ended a Volvo semi-truck.

First responders pronounced the Silverado driver dead at the scene.

Following the collision, the semi-truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Investigators do not believe the semi-truck driver was impaired.

Officials have not released the victim’s name.
