Driver dies after crashing Camaro into traffic light in N Houston
HOUSTON, TX – Authorities are investigating a fatal, single-vehicle accident that happened on the Eastex Freeway feeder road early this morning.
Click2Houston reports that the crash happened in the 13900 block of the Eastex Freeway shortly before 1:40 a.m. today.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office believes that the driver of a yellow Chevrolet Camaro lost control of their vehicle, which crashed into a light pole.
The Camaro then caught fire with the driver and sole occupant trapped inside. Authorities pronounced that individual dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the driver’s identity at this time.
HCSO continues to investigate the crash and whether the driver was racing at the time. They believe speed and alcohol may have been factors, but have not said so conclusively.
