Driver dies after two-vehicle crash on Martin Luther King Blvd in SE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A two-vehicle collision last Saturday, December 23, in Houston’s South Park area claimed the life of a 64-year-old man, according to a Houston Police Department press release.
The wreck took place at 7800 Martin Luther King Boulevard, at around 8:40 a.m.
A preliminary investigation shows that the decedent, Benjamin Keys, was in a tan Chevrolet Venture that was traveling westbound on Willow Glen Drive toward Martin Luther King Boulevard. Moments after the vehicle failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and entered the intersection, it was hit by a white Infiniti QX60 heading northbound.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department had Keys rushed to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, confirmed officials.
The teen driver, who remained at the scene and spoke with investigators, was found not to be impaired and was released from the crash site.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division is handling the investigation.
