Driver dies after vehicle hits barrier on TX-288 in south Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 46-year-old man was fatally injured last Tuesday night due to a single-vehicle crash on South State Highway 288 in south Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The accident occurred in the 10500 block of southbound TX-288 on June 27, at around 10:45 p.m.
Investigators say the man was behind the wheel of a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe traveling southbound on the highway. At one point, for reasons still unclear, the vehicle ran toward the center median and collided with the concrete barrier. The impact of the crash sent the vehicle back into the main lines, where it came to a stop.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department had the male driver rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. On Thursday, June 29, the victim succumbed to his injuries, confirmed officials.
An investigation remains in progress.
