Driver dies following two-vehicle wreck on FM 2100 near Huffman
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A two-vehicle crash last Saturday afternoon near southwest Huffman claimed the life of a driver, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the accident occurred at the intersection of Old Atascocita Road and FM 2100, at about 3;37 p.m.
The decedent, identified as Brenda Melton, was operating a gold 2003 Ford Ranger and traveling eastbound on the 1400 block of Old Atascocita Road. Shortly after running a stop sign at the intersection with FM 2100, her Ford was hit on its right passenger side by the front of a white 2012 Ram 1500 traveling northbound.
Melton was airlifted to HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood in critical condition. A doctor pronounced her deceased at 4:50 p.m.
The driver of the Ram 1500, Jorge Luis Alonso, remained at the scene and cooperated with officials. Neither he nor his passengers, two adults and two juveniles, were reported hurt.
No impairment was suspected.
