Driver fatally collides with construction worker at Waddell’s Food Store

HOUSTON, TX – A suspected impaired driver struck and killed a construction worker at the entrance to Waddell’s Food Store at 4101 W Orem Dr on Jan. 16, according to Click 2 Houston.

Rwangamugayo Emmanuel, 39, was driving a silver Nissan Sentra around 8:45 a.m. when he lost control of the car and drove onto the raised concrete curb through traffic barrels before running over a 35-year-old construction worker.

Emmanuel then hit another construction worker, slammed into a light pole, and hit a westbound silver Lexus sedan.

First responders pronounced the 35-year-old man dead at the scene and transported the other injured worker to an area hospital with broken bones. A passenger in the Lexus was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Following the collision, Emmanuel remained at the scene. Authorities determined he was intoxicated and arrested him.
