Driver fatally collides with motorcyclist in Highlands
HIGHLANDS, TX – A driver struck and killed a motorcyclist at Jones Rd and S Main St on Wednesday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert Muniz III was driving a black 2020 Toyota Camry west on Jones Rd when he stopped at the intersection around 6:02 p.m. Muniz failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign and turned left onto S Main St.
Kenneth Wardlaw was riding a gray 2007 Yamaha V Star 1100 north on S Main St when he collided with the back left quarter of the Toyota as Muniz entered the northbound lane. Wardlaw was ejected from the bike in the collision.
The Yama came to rest in the right lane and was hit by a green 2014 Ford Escape driven by Deborah Witt.
First responders pronounced Wardlaw dead at the scene. Witt and Muniz were not hurt in the collision.
Following the collision, Muniz and Witt remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
