Driver killed in crash with concrete fixture near John R. Harris Park

HOUSTON, TX — A 67-year-old man died late last Friday following a single-vehicle crash on Broadway Street in southeast Houston, reports the Houston Police Department.

Authorities said the fatal wreck occurred in the 1300 block of the road, near John R. Harris Park, at around 11:15 p.m.

Preliminary details show the man was operating a Dodge Ram pickup truck southbound when the vehicle traveled over the curb of a wide median and collided with a concrete fixture. Moments later, the pickup hit a tree and then came to a rest.

Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced the male driver deceased at the scene. His identity remains undisclosed pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

No other occupants and no other vehicles appear to have been involved.

An investigation remains ongoing.
