Driver of stolen vehicle crashes into tree near Hufsmith Kohrville Rd
TOMBALL, TX – One person died after the driver of a stolen vehicle crashed into a tree on the 20600 block of Hufsmith Kohrville Rd on Saturday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Jaime Joel Rook-Perez was driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee while fleeing from both the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office when he crashed into a tree around 3:49 a.m.
Rescue crews pronounced Rook-Perez’s passenger dead at the scene and transported Rook-Perez to an area hospital via life flight.
Authorities arrested Rook-Perez for felony murder, evading in a motor vehicle, and unauthorized use of motor vehicle.
