Driver, passenger die after crash with tree in League City

GALVESTON COUNTY, TX — Two women died Sunday night following a major single-vehicle crash in west League City, according to ABC13.

The accident occurred in the 500 block of Bay Area Boulevard that runs through Rustic Oaks Park, south of FM-518. League City Police were dispatched to the scene just after 10:00 p.m.

An investigation remains under way, but officials say a Jeep was heading northbound on the road when its driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. Moments later, the Jeep veered off the roadway and entered the center median, where it collided with a tree.

Responding paramedics worked to administer life-saving measures to the Jeep’s two female occupants, aged 27 and 32, but both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, confirmed officials. No other passengers were in the Jeep at the time, and no other vehicles appear to have been involved.

Authorities did not immediately disclose which victim was driving.

The LCPD continues to investigate the cause of the wreck. Anyone who may have relevant information is encouraged to call the department at 281-332-2566.
