Family files lawsuit against Missouri City for fatal officer-involved crash

MISSOURI CITY, TX – The family of a mother and son who was killed in a car crash involving a Missouri City police officer at 1681 Cartwright Rd on June 20 are suing the city, according to KHOU.

Angela Stewart, 53, and her 16-year-old son were exiting a Dollar Tree when Officer Blademir Viveros, 27, slammed into them around 8:42 p.m.

Officer Viveros was traveling 80 mph without his lights or sirens on when he crashed. He has since been relieved of duty.

Rescue crews pronounced Stewart and her son dead at the scene. A man who was in the back seat of the police car is still in the hospital. His family is also suing the city.
