Fleeing vehicle overturns in SE Houston, claiming lives of 2 young adults

HOUSTON, TX — Two people died and two others were left injured early Friday following a police pursuit and rollover crash in southeast Houston, according to ABC13.

The collision took place on the the ramp connecting Interstate 45 north to Interstate 610 east, some time after 1:00 a.m.

Houston Police said a driver was fleeing an attempted traffic stop in a vehicle which was verified to have been stolen. About five minutes into a police pursuit, the suspect vehicle crashed into a railing at the I-610 exit from I-45, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Authorities said the vehicle, which came to rest on its roof, was left significantly damaged.

Two occupants, the driver and their front-seat passenger, both young men believed to be 18-20 years old, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

First responders had the two back passengers, a girl and a man, rushed to a local hospital where they were listed in stable condition.

The exit ramp was blocked off as crews investigated.
