HCSO investigates fatal pedestrian crash on Wade Rd in Baytown
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — One person was struck and killed by a vehicle last Sunday, December 24, in the Country Terrace area of northwest Baytown, reports the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal incident occurred in the 8300 block of Wade Road, at around 6:07 p.m.
An early investigation found that the victim, Zackary Mason, was walking north in the southbound lane of the road when he failed to yield to the right of way of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling south. Moments later, the front-right of the Jeep hit Mason’s right side.
Responding ESD 5 paramedics pronounced Mason deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.
Authorities have identified the driver of the Grand Cherokee as Melissa Card, but no further details regarding the fatal crash have been provided.
The HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
