Head-on crash involving ride-share vehicle near NW Houston claims 2 lives
HOUSTON, TX — Authorities are investigating a double-fatal crash involving a rideshare vehicle that took place Thursday morning near northwest Houston, according to ABC13.
The collision happened in the 11500 block of State Highway 249 (Tomball Parkway) at Breen Drive, in the Yale Street Gardens area. It was first reported by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez at 8:02 a.m.
While the events leading up to the wreck remain undisclosed, early details indicate speed was a factor in the fatal head-on crash.
First responders pronounced the male driver and female front-seat passenger in one of the vehicles deceased at the scene.
The driver of the rideshare vehicle and their passenger were both rushed to a local hospital in serious condition. While their injuries were not immediately specified, officials said the patients are expected to survive.
Motorists were asked to avoid the scene and find alternate routes due to a full closure of TX-249 in the area.
