Hit-and-run driver fatally collides with bicyclist in southwest Houston
HOUSTON, TX – According to Click 2 Houston, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a bicyclist at South Texas 6 and Empanada Drive Sunday morning.
Shantia Howard, 28, was allegedly driving a red sedan north on South Texas 6 when she hit Ashley Mae Nelson, 37, as Nelson failed to yield the right of way as she was crossing all lanes of traffic outside of a crosswalk around 5:29 a.m.
First responders pronounced Nelson dead at 4:38 a.m.
Howard reportedly fled the scene following the collision.
Authorities located Howard and arrested her for failure to stop and render aid.
