Hit-and-run drivers sought after fatal pedestrian crash on I-69 in NE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — One person died early last Thursday, August 24, after a pedestrian crash involving multiple drivers on Interstate Highway 69 in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The fatal incident occurred on the 8600 block of the highway (Eastex Freeway/North U.S. Highway 59), in the Eastex/Jensen area. It was first reported at about 1:15 a.m.
While the circumstances of the event remain under investigation, officers responded to the northbound lanes of the freeway and found the victim, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary details indicate the victim had been on foot when they were hit by several vehicles, whose drivers all fled the scene without rendering aid.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences were working to verify the victim’s identity.
